There are two main drive types available today.
ATA and SATA. SATA is newer and shows promise when it comes to speed and the smaller cables help with case airflow. Drives typically come in 7200RPM speed and can have 2MB, 8MB or 16MB of cache.
Brands and warranties vary. Drives can carry a 1, 3 or 5 year warranty. The Segate brand offers the 5 year warranty. Other brands include Hitachi, Maxtor, and Western Digital. We can get drives from 40 to 400GB!
